My ripping and post processing technique I rip one side at a time at a recording level that places the peaks around -6db, as suggested by mastering engineer Barry Diament, in order to minimize distortion inside the ADC. I then painstakingly declick each side, taking various approaches depending on the material. Silence between tracks is treated using higher values in iZotope (‘multiband declicker random’ between 2.0 and 5.0) and musical parts lacking transients with lower values (between 1.0 and 3.0, depending on record condition). On modern recordings, where the declicker might mistake musical information for clicks or pops, declicking is done fully manually by listening to the entire side and observing the spectral view. I then apply fades to beginning and end of sides, and in rare instances where the surface noise is too distracting I also fade each track. Normalizing is done one side at a time, at -.3 db. No NoNoise or EQ are used in my rips under any circumstances. You are free to share this rip on the internet as an anonymous rip.
