I could take out the tape hiss, using the Noise Reduction from Sony Sound Forge (the software that I have used to record, cut and process those songs). In passes of 12 db it would be without hiss and you wouldn't say that the sound of the songs are like old film anymore. But the high frequency (16-22 khz) would be serious affected. Instead of 100% cdda tracks, after cutting hiss, we would have 100% mpeg tracks sound. So decide for yourself which one of the arguments are more consistent. I prefer the complete range of sound.
