The Hearts of Darkness sound is a hybrid beginning from the roots of '70s afrobeat and building off of the traditions of big- band jazz as well as funk and rock with hip-hop on top. In 2011, the band has opened for Huey Lewis and Snoop Dogg, played at Farm Aid and the Kanrocksas Music Festival. HOD was voted "Best Jazz Ensemble"via the Pitch Weekly, and they continue to pack venues show after show.

Recorded live in studio in November 2009 and February 2010 on 2" analog tape by Chad Meise at The Cooler.
Mixed in April 2010 on an analog desk to 1/2" analog tape by Chad Meise, Bob Asher, Pete Leibert, Shawn Hansen, Les Izmore and Josh Mobley.
Mastered for analog and digital on 5/6/10 by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room Mastering.
Lacquer masters (for vinyl) cut on 5/7/10 by Jason Ward at Chicago Mastering Service.
