A set recorded in Italy, but with all the soulful roots of Kalaparusha's earlier years with the AACM – an incredible balance of tone and timing, handled by a quartet that also includes Longineu Parsons on trumpet and reeds, Leonard Jones on bass, and King I Mock on drums! Kalaparusha plays a host of wonderful reeds – tenor, clarinet, and lots of flute – plus some percussion too, alternating with the reeds in a real Art Ensemble kind of way. And the tracks on the set have this beautifully building quality that's quite organic at times – really pushing the boundaries, but never going too far out – and carved out of sound with some especially great lines on the reeds.

This obscure set features passionate blowing by Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre (heard on tenor, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and percussion) along with the little-known Longineu Parson on trumpet, flugelhorn, flute, sopranino and recorders, bassist Leonard Jones, and drummer King Mock. The quartet performs five McIntyre originals and one by Parsons, and the emphasis is on intense solos and very free improvising. There is plenty of fire displayed on this spirited set.
