Robert Charels was born October 26, 1958, in Catskill, New York. He is a blues singer in the vein of B. B. King and Duke Robillard.
Fronting a big band that swings hard from the getgo from New Orleans funk to Chicago brass, to New York cool, Robert Charels delivers a slammin' effort. Produced by blues legend Duke Robillard (Room Full of Blues, Fabulous Thunderbirds), Charels' Fountainbleu debut "Metropolitan Blue" features some of the top players in blues today, Michael Hill, "Sax" Gordon beadle, Doug James, Tony Coleman and Duke Robillard.
From the opeining vamp of "Fannie Mae," through the up-tempo funk of the titile track, and ending up rocking with "Bop All Night Long," "Metropolitan Blue" is a real showcase for his impeccable singing and playing.
