I may have found a VERY BAD workaorund. Use borderless window. get to the sequence. Then tab out so the game is "paused". Leave it like that. Come back. For leaving 20 seconds, I get about 2 seconds of interrupted cutscene. So maybe leave for half a hour and then come back? I got past the intro, the next 30 minutes were fine.
